El Viento, Marco Polo Hotel Cebu
This is the only time we’ve ever been to Marco Polo and skipped the buffet at Cafe Marco to eat a simple dinner at El Viento. But either way, you’re guaranteed a pricey meal! For P1,000, our dinner was an Antipasti Platter and a Pizza Quatro Stagioni, 3 cooks at P200, and taxes at P500, for a grand total of a little over P1,500.
Spaghetti Bolognese
I don’t know why but for some reason I always thought Bolognese sauce was a simple tomato sauce sometimes served with meat. I realized my mistake when my girl friends and I went to an Italian restaurant and found pieces of carrots and celery in my plate. And that’s when I thought, “hmmm…what have I been eating all this time?” Turns out, I was confusing Bolognese sauce with Marinara or Pomodoro sauce.
How-To-Cook Spaghetti
Originally this was a how-to-cook pasta entry. But because there are so many varieties of pasta out, I decided first to post a how-to-cook spaghetti entry and eventually post more how-to-cook kinds of pastas as I cook it at home. This time, I made spaghetti for dinner with my pork in caper-mustard sauce, which I will post soon. Cooking pasta can be very tricky at first but once you get a hang of it, it’s quite simple. Just give extra attention to the cooking because it is very important not to overcook the pasta.
Boil water in a LARGE pan. The pan should be about ¾ full of water or adjust to preference, but there should be A LOT of water.
Spaghetti alla Puttanesca
Spaghetti alla Puttanesca is one of Hubby’s most-loved pasta dishes. He prefers to eat it at home than at restaurants because I put a lot of anchovies. Made with anchovies, capers, and olives, Spaghetti alla Puttanesca or Whore’s Spaghetti originated in Naples, Italy. Many theories have come up on how its scandalous came to be but until now no specific explanation has been pinpointed to.
