Of all the things my father and I argue about, there is always one thing that brings us together: Food. For most of my childhood, I can recall seeing my French dad cooking for my mom and me. I’d see him wearing his blue apron tied around his waist and a clean towel drape on his shoulder as he paced around from island to island in our kitchen. If he wasn’t cooking for us, he was hosting dinner parties for his colleagues and friends. He’d make delicious dishes of smoked salmon crepes, hachis parmentier, steak frites, and escargots, just to name a few. Twenty years has passed and I still see him in the kitchen cooking for my husband and me. It’s not as often as he used to do, but he’s still somehow doing it at 75.

My Filipina mother was a great cook as well. When we were still living in France, she introduced our neighbors to her killer adobo, spring rolls, and pancit canton. Let me emphasize that you don’t find these kinds of food in France easily, so we knew her cooking was a success when our neighbors were licking their fingers and asking for seconds and thirds. Later on, we came to live in the Philippines, and although she was diagnosed with cancer, she continued to cook for us fabulous meals. I can still remember her pochero, for which, after countless times of trying, I’ve never been able to achieve one as tasteful as hers. So it’s to no surprise, that I inherited this connection for food and cooking. I had the best of both worlds; my dad’s western cuisine and my mom’s asian heritage.

My name is Jane Amora, wife and mother of a 5 month old beautiful baby. I live in the Philippines, but am planning to leave for another country (hopefully) soon.  I am a simple housewife whose passion in life is food. I love cooking for my family, experimenting new recipes, dining at new restaurants and personal favorites. I like trying out new products and update myself with the food world. I’m not much of a photographer; sometimes my pictures may not give justice to the quality of the food. But photography is something I would like to venture on soon. I hope you enjoy reading my blog as much as I enjoy writing in it. This is my second baby. Don’t hesitate to contact me for suggestions and requests. I’m also open for critics. So, enjoy! Live,Laugh, and Eat Well!
