El Viento, Marco Polo Hotel Cebu
This is the only time we’ve ever been to Marco Polo and skipped the buffet at Cafe Marco to eat a simple dinner at El Viento. But either way, you’re guaranteed a pricey meal! For P1,000, our dinner was an Antipasti Platter and a Pizza Quatro Stagioni, 3 cooks at P200, and taxes at P500, for a grand total of a little over P1,500.
El Viento is one of the restaurants in Marco Polo Hotel Cebu. It is the one located at the poolside and it serves mostly Italian cuisine. So you will most probably find pizzas, pastas, risotto, and many more Italian specialties in their menu.
We started dinner with a basket of complimentary bread with tomato salsa. I liked munching on the bread sticks.
This was then followed by an Antipasti Platter. Unfortunately, I don’t have a picture of this. But the Antipasti Platter had an assortment of Italian cold cuts and pickled vegetables. This was served with bread.
We then had a Quatro Stagioni Pizza. This, I did not forget to take a picture of! Quatro Stagioni in English means “Four Seasons”. This is one of my favorite pizzas in Italian restaurants. My husband would have preferred the Parma Ham pizza, but I prefer my pizza with a little bit of vegetable. Quatro Stagioni has ham, mushrooms, black olives, artichoke, cheese, and tomato sauce. Delicious! I must say that the crust was done perfectly to my taste and how I think it should be. Thin, but not too thin that it breaks in your hand and it wasn’t undercooked. This was one hell of a pizza, although a little bit expensive (P555/excluding taxes/good for 2). The only thing missing from the equation is a little drizzle of chili oil, which they do not have (what a shame!). I almost feel like bringing my personal bottle of chili oil the next time I want one of their pizzas.
If you come here not for the food but for the view and ambiance, then you will be pleasantly satisfied. I thought the place was mildly romantic. You are faced to the swimming pool with the reflection of the glistening moon on the water. Soft music is played by a band by the pool. The place is softly lighted, mostly by the candles of the table. It can definitely make you forget whatever problems you have at the moment.
Might as well, because the next day everything goes back to normal. As a little update, it does not look good for my mother-in-law as she is scheduled for an operation as soon as possible. The big C strikes again the family!
