El Viento, Marco Polo Hotel Cebu

El Viento

This is the only time we’ve ever been to Marco Polo and skipped the buffet at Cafe Marco to eat a simple dinner at El Viento. But either way, you’re guaranteed a pricey meal! For P1,000, our dinner was an Antipasti Platter and a Pizza Quatro Stagioni, 3 cooks at P200, and taxes at P500, for a grand total of a little over P1,500.

Choucroute Garnie

Choucroute Garnie

With everything that’s been going on with my mother-in-law, I haven’t had the time and energy to cook a proper meal at home. For two days, I’ve left home early morning to join my mother-in-law at the hospital and from there, went to the office. Because I’ve been late coming in in the morning, I try to stay a little later at night. When I get home, I feel the exhaustion just piling up on my shoulder and I can barely drag my feet to get to bed, let alone cook. In short, we haven’t been eating well. On the third day, Dad decided to take matters in his hands.

Gelatissimo

This particular post is very hard to write. Two days ago, my husband and I received some very bad news from my in-laws.

Teriyaki Boy, Cebu

Teriyaki Boy

Teriyaki Boy

Baby’s teeth have been giving us problems again. Her two upper canine teeth just came out and we had an interchanging cocktail of fever, runny nose, dry cough, and soft stool. One thing that never goes away though is Baby’s appetite. Sick or not, she eats the same way (Ha!). So after she started feeling well, we decided to go out as a family. We spent the afternoon at the mall and let Baby ride her favorite rides at Timezone. Then for dinner, we went to eat at our favorite Japanese restaurant in Ayala Center, Teriyaki Boy.

Squash, String Beans, and Leftover Lechon Paksiw

Squash, String Beans, and Leftover Paksiw

Squash, String Beans, and Leftover Lechon Paksiw

In most parties hosted by Filipinos, you are guaranteed to see the presence of a lechon in the buffet table. Lechon Baboy is a whole roasted pig that is succulent and somehow makes you forget your diet. If you’re a foodie, I’m pretty sure you know Lechon from Anthony Bourdain’s television show and his episode in Cebu. Cebu definitely has the best lechon in the Philippines. Some of the best are CNT, Rico’s, and Zubuchon.

Spice Fusion, Cebu

Spice Fusion

On Sundays, we like to visit the market at the Banilad Town Center lobby. We’ve been going there for a couple of months now. I like the breads and pastries one particularly stall sells. They have French breads and pastries like madeleines, brioche, wheat bread, fruit tarts, apple pie, and so much more!

Seafood Linguine

Seafood Linguine

This is my finalized recipe for the Seafood Pasta I posted earlier. Remember that one? I’ve been toying with making good seafood pasta ever since I found those mixed seafood packs in Rustan’s. This time around I used Linguine noodles. If you want to make a pasta dish with seafood, the best kind of pasta would be spaghetti or linguine.

Happy 1st Birthday!

1st Year Anniversary

OMG! How could I forget that this blog has turned 1 year old already? I wrote my first blog post on January 24, 2009, so it’s definitely been a year. 1 year and 5 months, to be exact. So even if I’m 5 months late (oops!), I still wanna celebrate this.

Classic Savory

Classic Savory

This is one of the rare times where I’ve eaten in a restaurant alone. I was having a medical check-up in Chong Hua Hospital the other day and I thought I would grab lunch at the new Robinson’s Cybergate that opened in front of the hospital. There were several restaurants to choose from but Classic Savory sounded new to me.

Ipar’s

Ipar's

On the first week of June, we celebrate my mother’s birthday. And although, she’s not around anymore, we still like to go out and celebrate. This year was no exemption and I wanted to go somewhere new for a change. A few months ago, I passed by a new restaurant in F. Ramos Street, which looked interesting. A few years ago, this was an old house, so I was pleasantly shocked to see that it was replaced by a Authentic Spanish restaurant. My family and I love paella, so I was excited to try what they had to offer.
